Jeep Ignition Control System Care

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009
John Garett asked:

One wakes up with a spring in one’s steps, a grin in the face and the impulse to spread cheer and good will to one’s fellow humans. There’s only one problem. The Jeep refuses to budge. Such problems are enough to turn one’s sunny mood dour and in some cases, to induce one to ball one’s hand into a fist and give serious consideration to using it against any available surface, slapping it against the front seat or against the dashboard. In light of such conditions, it is safe to assume that one is encountering Jeep Ignition Control problems. The Jeep Igniton Control System may not seem quite that significant to a number of people, but for those who understand how little details contribute to a whole, to a coherent entirety, the Ignition Control Assembly will prove agreeably interesting. In automotive circles, the Jeep Ignition Control System is the system that brings an electric spark to bear upon and thus ignite the fuel air mixture of the engine. What happens after that, one may muse to ask? The second the burning action in the cylinders commences, the motive force of the car is induced. Spark plugs, along with the Jeep Ignition Coils and battery, constitutes the major components of the system. Corrosion in the plugs, coils and battery of the Jeep are not unheard of though and ends up as the usual source of car problems. One must take care, then, of the inefficient Jeep Ignition Control Systems. One way is to promptly arrange for a replacements the moment the current coil or plug starts exhibiting the slightest signs of errant behavior. Drained batteries, often caused by leaving the car’s interior lights on, can also be the reason. Charging them may work but if problems persist, better for one to chuck it out. Discard anything that is no longer of efficient use. Once done, one can expect longer years and many runs with one’s Jeep.

How To Increase Your Fuel Economy And Save Money By Using Cruise Control Properly

Saturday, November 14th, 2009
Gregg Hall asked:

Looking to cruise but without the high cost?

It may not be the vacation you imagined, but recent tests have shown that using the cruise control function on your car can help you reduce your fuel expenses. Cruise control ensures that a driver maintains a common, steady speed while on the road, helping to eliminate much of the stopping and starting that unnecessarily burns up expensive fuel. With gasoline prices rising across the country, using cruise control is a simple, effective, economical way to increase fuel efficiency and reduce out of pocket expenses.

But despite its advantages, cruise control isn’t for everyone and isn’t for all roads. It’s best for open city driving, preferably flat roads, without hills where there’s little need for a driver to stop and go. Using cruise control ensures that a driver maintains a consistent speed, helping to improve gas mileage and overall safety on the road, as the need to put on the brakes is lessened. When tested, a Land Rover LR3 got close to 14 percent better mileage when using cruise control on the highway than it did when the driver adjusted the car speed manually. This test shows how the use of cruise control can impact a car’s efficiency.

Don’t fear if you’re one of those drivers who can’t necessarily utilize cruise control because your commute isn’t as straightforward. There are still simple ways you can maximize your fuel efficiency, one of which involves anticipating the flow of traffic. Try to predict where the starts and stops during your travels will be and adjust your driving speed accordingly. For example, if you get stopped at light, it’s likely you’ll also be stopped at the following one. Speeding your car up to try and beat it will, more often than not, only result in you getting stopped at the following light and needing to brake fast. Being mindful of such situations and react appropriately to reduce fuel waste. It’s also important to follow the posted speed limit, as it’s been known to translate into more green lights and less wear on your brakes.

Driving your vehicle in the highest gear possible can also make a difference in the economy of your car. When your car runs in a high gear, the engine turns more slowly, reducing how many explosions occur in the cylinders. The fewer explosions that happen, the less fuel that is used. On average, the savings on gas due to this increase in efficiency are 7 percent. This may seem pretty small, but the savings in fuel expenses are big.

Cruise control can help steer you to better mileage and improved fuel efficiency. Finally, good reasons to sit back and relax.

All New Subaru Forester With New Price

Friday, November 13th, 2009
Anthony Fontanelle asked:

Last January, Subaru of America, Inc. had sent out the all-new Subaru Forester to have its world debut. This was held during the North American International Auto Show. But that would not be the last thing we are going to hear about the 2009 Subaru Forester. See, a month after the debut of the vehicle, the car maker has already announced that the 2009 Subaru Forester would be available in the market come this April.

How much would be the price tag state? That would be a question that most interested folks would be asking. According to Subaru, they would be sending out the vehicle with a $19,995 tag price as its starting price and that amount is $1,200 cheaper than the previous Subaru Forester model.

Subaru’s vice president for sales, Tim Colbeck, shared, “For 11 years, the Subaru Forester has been an icon of functionality, dependability and durability. The 2009 Forester now adds greater interior room, improved comfort and more amenities than before, yet with a starting price that is significantly lower than the outgoing model.”

Producing power for the 2009 Subaru Forester are two engines which have been available. One is a 2.5 liter naturally aspirated unit while another is a 2.5 liter turbo engine. The former is mated to either a manual or an automatic transmission while the former is matched only to an automatic. Available in three trim levels the X, the 2.5x Premium Package, and the 2.5X L. L. Bean, the natural aspirated model would give consumers more choices. However, the turbocharged unit would not be left behind for it is available in the X trim and the Forester 2.5XT Limited.

If you are going to choose a 2009 Subaru Forester that is equipped with a 2.5X Premium Package, you would find its tag coming with a price of $22,495 and for that amount you get a power moonroof, a rear seat center tray, reclining seat backs for the rear, roof rails, audio controls on the streering wheel, and alloy wheels measuring 17 inches.

For the 2.5X L. L. Bean version, you would have to shell out $25,995 for this one. For that amount, you get upholster that is trimmed in leather. The vehicle also has an automatic climate control system, fog lights, an all weather package, L.L. Bean floor mats and cargo trays, and an AM/FM stereo with CD changer. It has not been mentioned though if you would be getting a NHT calipers premium brake caliper with any of the 2009 Subaru Forester’s versions.

The Expanded Subaru Forester Line Up

Friday, October 23rd, 2009
Joe Thompson asked:

For the 2007 model year, Subaru has made sure that its Forester line up would be adding and offering new features and options for the auto market. And the Subaru Forester XS and the Subaru Forester XT would be doing away with new offers and features.

Both the Subaru Forester XT and the Subaru Forester SX would come with a rear roof spoiler which is fitted through manufacturing in the Subaru auto factories. These models would also be holding ultraviolet glass which has been tinted. These pieces of UV glass would be used for the vehicles’ windows in the rear, quarter, and the back portion.

The line would also be continuing on offering its Luxury options. The Luxury package gives the Subaru Forester vehicles leather trims and a sunroof which is also factory-fitted. Aside from this, the Satellite Navigation system would now be offered as an option for car buyers.

“The popularity of the Forester continues to defy the normal model lifecycle and is consistently one of our strongest selling vehicles. Recently, it was named the safest used vehicle in a seventeen year study conducted by Monash University and it continues to dominate retained values rankings in the compact SUV segment,” relates Nick Senior. Senior is the managing director for the Australian arm of the Subaru brand.

Senior continues, “We have added even more specifications to the MY07 line up which is sure to attract new buyers who are looking for fantastic value a well as a five star ANCAP (Australasian New Car Assessment Program) crashworthiness rating for occupant safety and excellent resale values.”

Packed with quality and factory-fitted Subaru auto parts, these Subaru Forester models would also be coming with exciting features that would keep Subaru Forester owners at the tips of their toes. Entertainment has not been left in the dust for this vehicle line would now be coming with upgraded radios. These radios would be able to scan for stronger frequencies that would be translating to clearer music and audio and a more relaxing drive.

The price for the 2007 Subaru Forester ranges from $31,990 up to $46,990.

Where to Off-road

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009
Evander Klum asked:

You’ve got the coolest Jeep. The question is “do you know where to lead it?”

A website named “4wheel Drive” lists ways on how to find new trails and maps in your area.

1. Since the internet is available 24/7, check out an online list of 4×4 trails and maps. It is probably the easiest.

2. Join a local 4×4 league. Aside from exploring new trails, you’ll also have the knowledge and experience, as well as personal assistance.

Many states, or sometimes regions, also have an Association of 4WD Clubs. These organizations support to connect you with the most active, best club for your specific interest and abilities. These organizations are also up-to-date with the latest land issues in your area, and they work to keep public lands open to public access.

3. Have a trail map or guidebook. They are available in four-wheel drive accessory stores, map stores, and in the internet; but they vary in the degree of detail they provide. An atlas will help you locate the public lands in your area like State Parks, State Recreation Areas, Bureau of Land Management (BLM), State Forests, National Forests, Off Highway Vehicle Areas (OHV), and State Vehicular Recreation Areas (SVRA).

Other sources of maps are those who manage the public lands in your area. The Bureau of Land Management, for example, provides a variety of maps and Desert Access Guides, and the National Forest Service maps are great because they clearly indicate dirt roads and hiking trails, and whether a road is strictly a 4X4 road or not.

4. Consult your local phone book. Locations of public lands are found on Government pages (usually a different color than the rest of the pages). Locations of lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management are found under the “U.S. Department of Agriculture”. For state parks, forests, and recreation areas, browse to the “Department of Environment and Conservation” or “Department of Environment and Protection” pages. And look under the “City Government” pages for city parks and recreation areas.

Contact the office managing the land you would like to explore and ask for the person who is in charge of back road activities or off-road driving. Aside form the directions on the trailhead and basic guidelines for off-road travel, each office should also be able to provide you with trail maps and other material about the surrounding area so that you will not be ignorant of the area. They usually mail the information to you, or you can pick it up on-site.

This guide is definitely a huge help in looking for a place to drive your Jeep.

But there is another thing to note. Before leaving, make sure all your Jeep CJ parts are in sound condition. You will not appreciate the wonders of the place you are directed to if a single Jeep part will spoil your trip.

Subaru Forester Saved Driver’s Life

Friday, October 2nd, 2009
Anthony Fontanelle asked:

Japanese automaker Subaru is known for its mass produced four-wheel drive automobiles. The company is also known for its success in the World Rally Championship. The company’s foray in the sport may be known for the stint of the legendary Colin McRae in the team. But recently, Subaru opened eyes in the auto industry after a Subaru Forester saved a driver’s life.

Matthew Scott, 28, of Anchorage Alaska was involved in an accident on his Subaru Forester and he credited the vehicle for saving his life. Scott said that he does not remember much about the potentially fatal accident. He is now recovering from his injuries to the head and torso. Doctors though are confident that Scott will make a full recovery.

The victim said that he bought his 2003 Subaru Forester compact crossover SUV for its safety features. He said that he feels that his choice of a vehicle paid off. With safety features in place, the Subaru Forester protected Scott adequately.

The crossover owned by Scott looks as if it was what Robert Kubica was driving at the Canadian Grand Prix. The crossover is totaled after it was hit on the side by a car driven by a man trying to elude the authorities. By looking at the crushed Subaru Forester, it is hard to fathom how Scott was able to survive the crash. The crossover is a complete wreck with its Subaru engine parts scattered around the area of the accident.

Scott though did not walk away unscathed from the accident as his spleen was removed due to extensive injuries. His stomach and his back also received punishment as the impact totaled his crossover. Although he may have suffered such injuries, Scott and Lt. Steven Hebbe of the Anchorage Police Department both think that Scott is still lucky.

“Could have been much worse,” said Hebbe which Scott would no doubt agree with. “It looks like he hit the front of the Subaru on the driver’s wheel, and to the front of the vehicle. If he’d hit square into the driver door, you know, I think we could have seen a fatality of that driver as well,” added the lieutenant.

According to Scott, he bought the car for its safety features, most especially for its side curtain airbags. Although a side curtain airbag is not enough to protect a vehicle’s occupant from serious injuries, it appears that it was enough to save Scott’s life during the accident.

Subaru Sales Consultant David Donahue said that Scott’s thinking when he bought the Forester is few and far between among auto buyers. “It’s still something that’s really being used more as a sales pitch,” confided Donahue. “You don’t get very many customers coming in saying, ‘Hey, I want to ensure that the vehicle I’m purchasing has side curtain air bags.”

Side airbags have been available on mass produced cars for over ten years now. Sadly though, it was only a few years back when automakers made them standard or optional equipments for their vehicles. According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, 45 percent of vehicles for the 2007 model year are equipped with head and chest side impact airbags as standard equipments. Ten percent of the 2007 model year vehicles offer these safety features as optional features meaning consumers would have to shell out more for the extra protection. Sadly, 21 percent of 2007 model year vehicles are still not equipped with any form of side impact airbags.
